Boolean
Natural searches are easier to understand, but do not allow the user as much control as Boolean searches. Here you will type in a phrase such as
motion to compel
. The search engine will remove the word "to" because it is so common and search only for the words
motion
and
compel
. This will match docket entries with either "motion" or "compel" but will rank results higher when both are present.
Boolean searches require special operators to be placed with the words in the search, such as +motion +compel. This earch is more technical and allows you to pinpoint exactly what you want and do not want, such as
+motion +compel -order
. This search will return all docket entries with "motion" and "compel" but exclude entries with the word "order".
